I visited this assisted living facility several times to interview some of the residents for a study about seniors. I was a graduate student at the time and interviewed seniors throughout Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland. Some Goodwin House residents had elected to participate in the study. Goodwin House was one of my favorite places to visit because there was a great sense of community between the residents there. Most of them lived independently, having their own apartments with the convenience of meal preparation, maid and medical services. The apartments were very nice, especially on the top floors.
After a thorough exploration of our area’s retirement options, we decided we wanted to stay put in our beloved home of 32 years. After reviewing our finances and consulting with an elder care attorney, we found that the support and flexibility of Goodwin Living at Home was the best solution for our needs. Our membership began just over a year ago, and already we feel very much a part of this warm, caring and supportive community.

It has a very friendly environment, and everybody knew each other. They also have education for the residents to take classes. They have offered different workshops as well. They have different kinds of arts and craft type rooms. The facility is beautiful, and that's probably my first choice as of this moment. The programing and the facility are both excellent.

I like it a lot, and I like everything about it. I am impressed with the residents and the staff. I would give Goodwin House 5 stars as their staff and facility are top notch. My complaint is I have no way to appropriately thank the staff for all they are doing to care for the residents /our loved ones. It was not as large as the one in the other place I looked, but it was adequate. I liked the lobby, and the dining area was very nice.
